he brought in. I have had lobsters in Maine USA, and Vancouver,

but the best lobsters for taste come from Newfoundland!

This guy sat on the lobster trap, in front of my house, for hours.

I went out and gave him some fresh Cod.

He ate that up quick!

it had a few dead fish left in it.

The Slowest Waterfall in Newfoundland

I photographed this on a cliff near my house in Bellevue.

It is a green slime waterfall. Got to be the slowest

waterfall I've ever seen.

Seagull Diving for Crabs

We have a regular Seagull who dives for small crabs just in front of

our house in Bellevue. We call him Heathcliff. He had a girlfriend

for a while. We called her Gertrude. (Red Skeleton TV Show)

Eagles of Bellevue

We have a large number of Eagles in Bellevue. They stay through

the winter. This one just finished diving into the water,

going after a Cormorant. (He missed it)

They are wonderful to watch, they soar right over our house.

Seven Island Lookout

On the way to Placentia, there is a scenic view called Seven Island Lookout.

If you stop there you will see four islands, the other three are hidden until you drive

along away.

Greens Point Cave - Trinity Bay Near Bellevue

We go out on our boat into Trinity Bay and there

are wonderful cliffs coming down from Greens Point, some have

caves like this one. There are also two waterfalls.

We have wonderful Lichen forests here. This picture was taken

in Bellevue just down the road where I live.

The Lichen need very fresh air with no pollutants to survive.

Port Aux Basques Cemetery

I came across on the Ferry that lands at Port aux Basques. The

Ferry goes past an old cemetery on the cliff side.

The graves must be very shallow because it is super rocky there.

Africa Mountain

This mountain is just across the Bay of Bellevue,

on the Trinity Bay side. If you look carefully you will see

a Lion, an Elephant and a Hippopotamus (Right to left).

That's why I call it Africa Mountain!

Bellevue Beach Park Lookout

This is the lookout at Bellevue Beach Park. A privately owned

campground just down the road from us. The campground is very nice, with a fantastic

beach and lovely camp spots.

Fishermen in Bellevue are very proud of their boats,

so much so that they have held photo shoots of their family

weddings on their wharf.

A few days ago one of our neighbours called me out to the street.

He pointed up into the woods and said get your camera. About

100 feet away the Moose stood waiting to come down

and eat my daffodils out of my garden.

Baby Mink

In the Fall and throughout the winter we observed a large black Mink using the wharf in front of our house. It would swim out and back to the wharf, and had even made trails though the ice in the winter. Today, we found out why - a baby Mink took its first tentative steps on dry land. I noticed it first frolicking on the wharf and went down to see what it was. It was playing with a Lobster Claw elastic. I figured it was hungry and went back to the house and got some Cod. The Baby Mink loved that!! I went and got a few more pieces and captured this image of him/her: Sleeping after eating Cod:

I was on my way to take an old Mercury Outboard Motor to a highly recommended mechanic in Dildo named Randy. When I turned off the TCH towards Dildo, I had to stop to take a picture!

Whale Tail

We were sitting in our great room, when my wife Carol noticed Whales blowing in Trinity Bay towards Chance Cove. so ... we scrambled down to our boat and went to see. The Caplin are running out there and there were Whales feeding. We go out there and saw a few small ones, then we saw a large one and steered towards it. We go within 20 feet and it started to slap its tail on the water. We watched for about 5 minutes and then he was gone. The picture is not a telephoto, just regular. What a wonderful Province we live in!!!

Last Duckling Swimming

We have been watching the ducklings at the Thornlea pond (Next community over from Bellevue). There were 12 duckling about 2 weeks ago, but due to Mink, Crow, Cats, Dogs and various other Duck eaters, there is only one little guy left. I thought it would be nice to immortalize him, in case he disappears too.!

Old Dory

I took my wife over to Long Cove to look for beach glass and there she was! What was left of an old fishing boat. I sat and looked at her and wondered: Who built her? How long was she at sea? How many lobsters and Cod did she have pulled over her gunnel? How did she meet her end? Was the fisherman still alive or had he perished in the Sea?

The Cod are full of Caplin: "We went out for 5 hours and did not catch one Cod"- said this fisherman. The Caplin are late this year and some fishermen who are dependent on the Cod season, are desperate to catch them during the recreational catch time and put them up for the winter.

Shore Dumping

I am surprised that Newfoundland People still view the Ocean as a huge dump. This was taken in Thornlea, where there was also car parts, plastic siding and various other no biodegradable items littering a beautiful rocky shoreline. Shame! In the background you can see the scar left by the Barite mine which was closed, filled in and yet to be reclaimed by nature.

Salt Box - Little Harbour - Plancentia Channel

This a picture of a Salt Box House in Little Harbour. Our backup Post
Mistress (Bonnie) grew up in Little Harbour and her parents still live
there. The Corner Store closed, the Post Office closed and there is
not much happening in the tiny village. This Salt Box kind of
represents the passing of an era. It looks like it's clinging on to
the memory of the lives it has harboured.
